58th National Gymnastic competition 2012

Day 1 Highlight of 58th National School Gymnastics Competition 2012-13 at Balewadi Pune

The 58th National School Gymnastics Competition 2012-13 is being conducted at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune from the 10th of December 2012 till 14th of December 2012. An estimated 1000 participants (Under 14, 17 and 19 in both Boys & Girls categories) from 21 different states of India are participating.

Mr. Pankaj Kumar (IAS Officer and Commissioner of Sports and Youth Affairs, Maharashtra State) gave an inspiring speech for the young sports crowd present at the event followed by the Diya lighting ceremony. The other honorable guest to grace this auspicious competition were Mr. Janak Tekale (Deputy Director, Directorate of Sports & Youth Services), Mr. Murthy (School Game Federation India Observer – SGFI) and Mr. Narendra Sopal (Joint Director of Sports and Youth, Affairs Maharashtra), Square Off Partner Mr. Sachin Girishkumar, Mr. Mistry from VIP, Mr. Shinde (Bank of Maharashtra, Pune), Mr. Shirke, Mr. Sanjog Dhole, Mr. Suhas & Mr. Babulkar. Mr.Pankaj Kumar, Mr. Janak Tekale and Mr. Murthy gave inspiring speeches focusing on Olympics for the young sports crowd present at the event. The crowd was enthralled to hear the dignitaries speak during this opening ceremony.

On 10th December 2012 the day 1 of the competition, the main focus was on the under 19 girls where Maharashtra state scored the 1st in points for the day with a score of 197.95, West Bengal state scored 192.90, and Punjab state scored 150.50. The 1st three Under 19 girls scoring the best for the day were Ms. Divekar from Maharashtra state with 45.45, B. Aruna Reddy from Andhra Pradesh state scoring 45.24 and Ketaki Gokhale from Maharashtra state scoring 40.65.
